The guarguero, also known as throats or gullet, is another traditional dessert considered “of convent” of the colonial era. At that time the convents were important part of colonial society.

It is used during the colony, to wealthy families to send their daughters to the cloisters of the convent, so they were educated with the European customs of the time.

The guarguero is considered traditional in the South of Peru, in cities like Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and Cusco. However there are other cities that have their versions of this dessert, such as Lima and Piura.

El guargüero, también conocido como gargüero o gaznate, es otro postre tradicional considerado “de convento” de la época colonial. En aquel tiempo los conventos formaban parte importante de la sociedad colonial.

Se acostumbraba durante la colonia, que las familias adineradas enviaran a sus hijas a los claustros de los conventos, para que fueran educadas con las costumbres europeas de la época.

El guargüero es considerado tradicional de la zona sur del Perú, en ciudades como Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna y Cuzco. Sin embargo existen otras ciudades que tienen sus versiones de este postre, como Lima o Piura.
